About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team at Stantec, working on the design and development of cutting-edge hydropower and pumped storage hydro solutions. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in leading the electrical engineering design of hydropower projects, including generators, control and instrumentation systems, protection, substations, and transmission lines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the electrical engineering design of hydropower projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Develop and implement electrical systems, including generators, control and instrumentation systems, protection, substations, and transmission lines.
  • Collaborate with civil, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines to ensure a fully integrated project design.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Engage in the design and delivery of significant grid upgrade projects, including new transmission lines and substations.
Requirements
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with the IET.
  • Experience with large rotating machines (either generators or motors) is essential.
  • Specific experience of hydro and/or pumped storage hydro systems is strongly desirable but not essential.
  • Electrical experience in other sectors, particularly elsewhere within the Energy and Water sectors, is advantageous.
