Customs Documentation Clerk Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Customs Documentation Clerk to join our client's team in Essex. As a key member of the Customs Clearing / Multimodal Team, you will be responsible for producing customs declarations, ensuring all clearance processes are completed in a compliant and timely manner, and providing professional administration support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Completing customs declarations for sea and road freight shipments, including EADs & T1s.
  • Creating, managing, and maintaining accurate documentation for each case.
  • Handling customer inquiries and providing accurate advice and estimates.
  • Communicating with external organizations, such as HMRC, Port Authorities, and Shipping Lines.
  • Calculating duty and VAT costs for each consignment.
  • Processing import/export declarations.
  • Dealing with general inquiries concerning customs procedures, tariff classifications, and documentation requirements.
  • Staying up-to-date with changes in regulations, laws, and customs procedures.
Requirements:
  • 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • HMRC - Customs declarations experience, imports and exports.
  • Experience with T1's, POA, EAD, Transit documents.
  • Attention to detail to ensure compliance and pass HMRC audits.
  • Excellent communication skills to keep relevant departments informed.
  • Experience checking and processing relevant documentation.
  • Understanding of customs procedures and requirements.

We're looking for enthusiastic individuals with 2+ years of experience in a Customs Clearance team, with good working knowledge of Destin8 and Descarte.

In return, the successful Customs Documentation Clerk will be offered up to £32,000, in line with skills and experience.
