Position Overview

The Commonwealth of Virginia is looking for a dedicated Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) Coordinator to oversee and support a vibrant network of nearly 200 volunteers, both medical and non-medical, who are committed to enhancing Public Health during critical times. The MRC Coordinator will play a pivotal role in program management by engaging with volunteers, departmental staff, and various organizations to recruit participants and communicate service requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate volunteer recruitment and inform staff about necessary services.
  • Collaborate with program leaders and community partners to identify appropriate volunteer roles and needs for upcoming events.
  • Supervise the training, performance evaluation, scheduling, and effective utilization of volunteers.
  • Act as a liaison among operations, administration, and volunteers to ensure optimal resource allocation.
  • Prepare reports and handle general administrative duties.
  • Manage and oversee grant applications and financial disbursements to ensure program funding and service availability.
  • Represent the MRC at local and regional planning meetings and coalitions.

Employment Considerations

This is a restricted position with annual funding reviews. The recruitment process may include exceptional incentives, such as front-loaded leave for qualified candidates. Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in volunteer coordination and community outreach.
  • Proven leadership skills with strong interpersonal, communication, and public speaking abilities.
  • Capability to train others effectively.
  • Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with diverse groups; analytical skills for policy and procedure development.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including internet databases, email, and Microsoft Office.
  • Availability for emergency situations 24/7 and participation in district events, which may include weekends or evenings.

Additional Preferences

  • Prior experience in public health or outreach is preferred.
  • Strong public speaking skills.
  • Experience in organizing community outreach initiatives.
  • Familiarity with managing volunteer databases.
  • Experience with Medical Reserve Corps is a plus.
