About the Organization
The National Oceanography Centre (NOC) stands as the UK's premier institution dedicated to comprehensive coastal and deep ocean research. Our pioneering research, collaborative efforts, and transformative innovations aim to deepen our understanding of the ocean, fostering the well-being of all life on Earth.
Our team is a vibrant and dynamic community committed to addressing complex, long-term marine science challenges that influence both international and UK public policy, as well as business and societal outcomes.
The ocean holds immense potential to address numerous social, economic, and environmental challenges we face globally. To fully leverage the ocean's value, we embed ocean research, science, and discovery into our organizational culture.
Role Overview
In pursuit of becoming the world's most innovative oceanographic institution, NOC aims to maximize the advantages of a coordinated and adaptable professional approach to financial and project management across the organization. The Project Management Group is tasked with delivering a professional service that merges the management of strategically significant projects with a customer-oriented business partnership to assist project management practitioners throughout the organization.
The primary objective of this role is to assist accountable project owners in executing strategically significant projects by providing access to professional project management expertise. This may encompass both fixed and evolving project goals across NOC's diverse marine science, research infrastructure, and corporate infrastructure portfolios.
Members of the Project Management Group are also expected to engage with NOC's professional practice community by staying informed about current best practices and trends in project management, sharing their insights and learnings with fellow practitioners. This role will particularly focus on equipping staff with the necessary tools and skills to support evolving project goals, including the application of Agile methodologies.
Candidate Profile
We are in search of a project management professional with experience in applying both waterfall and Agile methodologies to achieve successful project outcomes. The ideal candidate will be a confident communicator capable of collaborating effectively with engineers, scientists, corporate personnel, and senior stakeholders to facilitate project delivery. Additionally, you should be an effective team player, working alongside fellow project managers to provide a customer-centric business partnership service for project management. A commitment to ongoing professional development and the application of best practices in project management is essential.
Benefits
We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including:
- 30 days of contractual annual leave, plus additional closure days and bank holidays
- A 10% employer contribution pension scheme
- Access to an Employee Assistance Programme, providing free and confidential support for mental, physical, emotional, health, and financial concerns
- A flexible benefits portal offering online discounts, cashback, and eGift cards
- A Cycle2Work scheme enabling employees to acquire bicycles and accessories
- A supportive working environment with various social events throughout the year
Work Arrangement
This position supports a hybrid working model, allowing staff to work from home up to two days per week. We are committed to fostering diversity and inclusion within our workplace and encourage qualified candidates from all backgrounds to apply.
All applicants will be evaluated solely based on their qualifications, skills, and experience, without regard to gender, age, race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic.
We are dedicated to creating a supportive and equitable environment where all voices are valued and heard.
