About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Volunteer at our Day Centre. As a Volunteer, you will play a vital role in supporting clients who are homeless or in unstable accommodation.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide a welcoming environment for clients, promoting a sense of community and belonging.
  • Offer guidance and support to clients in accessing local services, including signposting and referrals.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment, including laundry, cleaning, and gardening tasks.
  • Assist with the preparation of rooms and welfare packs for clients in the Hub accommodation.
  • Manage donations efficiently and effectively.
  • Respond promptly to health and safety concerns, reporting to the Day Centre team.
  • Manage challenging situations with clients, ensuring their needs are met and they feel heard.
  • Practice a non-discriminatory and person-centred approach in all interactions.
  • Provide emotional support and remain resilient in the face of high emotions.
  • Recognize and respond to the physiological needs of clients.

Requirements

  • Clear verbal and written English communication skills.
  • A polite, assertive manner, with the ability to self-motivate.
  • A passion for working in a client-facing role, particularly with vulnerable individuals.
  • Knowledge of the benefits system and tenancy legislation.
  • An interest in and genuine concern for homelessness and related issues.
  • Knowledge of voluntary and statutory agencies.
  • A flexible approach to the role, with a willingness to adapt to changing circumstances.
