We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Physician Associate to join our Care of the Elderly team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care to older patients.
Key Responsibilities- Work under the clinical supervision of a Care of the Elderly Consultant to deliver patient care
- Conduct clinical assessments and examinations, establishing differential diagnoses and proposing treatment plans
- Interpret diagnostic tests and imaging, and take appropriate action
- Conduct daily ward rounds with the Care of the Elderly team
- Develop specialist knowledge and experience in caring for older people
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under supervision
- Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and patients
- Make complex referrals to specialists and enact their advice
- Provide health and wellbeing counselling to patients and their relatives
- Contribute to the development of efficient care pathways
- Accurately document patient care

Requirements- Minimum of a BSc/BA undergraduate degree prior to undertaking PA training
- MSc/PgDip in Physician Associate Studies from a recognised PA training programme
- Current and valid certification or re-certification by the Physician Associate National Exam
- Registered with the UK Physician Associate Managed Voluntary Register (PAMVR)
- Member of the Faculty of Physician Associates
- Evidence of post-qualification learning and development
- Basic Life Support
- Immediate Life Support
- Advanced Life Support
- Experience in clinical audit
- Experience mentoring and training PA students
- Awareness of current developments and initiatives in Care of the Elderly
- Experience of working in secondary care
- Experience in working in Care of the Elderly
