Position Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled radiotherapy physicist to contribute to various aspects of our radiotherapy services, including Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), Stereotactic Ablative Body Radiotherapy (SABR), Surface Guided Radiotherapy (SGRT), brachytherapy, and our radioiodine program. You will also be involved in the implementation of innovative projects.

As part of a multidisciplinary team of over 35 professionals, including scientists, dosimetrists, engineers, and technicians, you will provide a comprehensive array of advanced radiotherapy services.

Our department is equipped with five Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators, a CT imaging system, an Xstrahl superficial radiation unit, and an Elekta Flexitron brachytherapy system. Notably, two of the TrueBeam systems are integrated with ExacTrac technology, while one features VisionRT. We specialize in delivering SRS and SABR treatments across multiple anatomical sites, utilizing advanced planning systems such as Raystation, Eclipse, Elements (for SRS), and Oncentra Brachy.

We pride ourselves on our commitment to education and training in medical physics, offering programs at all levels, including STP and HSST. Our department collaborates closely with academic institutions, providing opportunities for staff to engage in teaching and research.

Our team is actively involved in research initiatives, participating in ongoing clinical trials, and we foster a culture of continuous professional development by supporting training and educational opportunities, including leadership development programs.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver scientific expertise across all facets of the radiotherapy physics service.
- Provide advanced scientific guidance to clinical oncologists and radiographers.
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest quality of patient care through the latest technologies and methodologies.
- Lead and participate in projects aimed at evaluating and commissioning new equipment, software, and treatment methodologies.
- Engage in research, service evaluations, and audits to enhance service delivery.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Requirements

  • A 1st or 2nd class honours degree in physics or a related discipline.
  • Relevant qualifications in Medical Physics or a related field.
  • Registration as a clinical scientist with the Health Professions Council (HCPC).

Experience

  • Familiarity with radiation protection regulations and national standards.
  • A minimum of two years of postgraduate experience in a clinical setting.
  • A solid understanding of the physics principles related to cancer treatment using radiation.
  • Basic knowledge of clinical and radiographic practices in radiotherapy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for scientific documentation and presentations.

Skills and Abilities
