As a principal authority in Pediatric Respiratory Nursing, you will serve as a designated key worker for a specific patient group, managing referrals based on established criteria, and coordinating comprehensive treatment and care while functioning independently as an integral member of the Children's Community Specialist Nursing team.
The successful candidate will be expected to exhibit an advanced level of practice in both direct patient care and in their capacity to strategize and enhance services that support patient well-being. By leveraging leadership skills, clinical proficiency, evidence-based methodologies, and innovative approaches, the candidate will facilitate and deliver care that is centered on the patient, ensuring it is safe and effective.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain effective communication, both written and verbal, regarding patient matters through close collaboration with professional colleagues in both primary and secondary care, while fostering productive relationships with consultants, general practitioners, and other support services.
- Organize and manage a defined patient group that includes individuals with various health conditions such as cardiac issues, rheumatology, or other health requirements.
- Operate as a specialist, independent practitioner, utilizing expert clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
- Ensure ongoing effective communication regarding patient care through collaboration with professional colleagues across various healthcare settings.

Qualifications
Essential
- NMC Registered Children's Nursing Degree
- V300 non-medical prescribing qualification
- Paediatric Clinical Examination Skills CPD module
- Relevant specialty-related qualification/module
Desirable
- Specialist Children's Community Practitioner Degree or PG Dip
- Management/Leadership qualification or equivalent
- MSc Advanced Practice/Clinical Masters or in progress
- Recognized teaching/assessing qualification
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Strong specialty knowledge supported by extensive clinical experience
- Experience as an autonomous practitioner managing nurse-led clinics and conducting home visits
- Involvement in service development through initiating and implementing changes in practice
- Basic understanding of financial and corporate objectives within the Trust
- Experience in assessing and supervising student nurses
Desirable
- Supervising students undertaking the V300 NMP course
