About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Clinical Research Practitioner to join our Ophthalmology Research delivery team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead in all aspects of Ophthalmic Imaging and provide specialist research and clinical care to research participants within the scope of your education and training.
  • Identify and approach eligible patients, consent patients, and support the delivery of study interventions and clinical investigations and the data collection required for the individual studies.
  • Manage and coordinate delegated research studies, working closely with the clinical MDT to lead the way to improved care and treatments.
  • Work towards achieving the relevant competencies and experience to be eligible to apply for accreditation as a clinical research practitioner with the Academy of Health Care Science.
Requirements
  • Significant patient-facing experience caring for a range of patients, ideally in the acute setting.
  • Education to Foundation degree level or NVQ Level 6 in a Physiological or Physical Sciences, Healthcare Science or related field.
  • Extensive experience as a Research Imaging Technician is essential.
  • Ability to understand and implement new information, working to international standards of clinical research governance.
  • Computer experience and skills, including proficiency in Microsoft office applications.
