Postdoctoral Researcher in Genomic Studies

London, Greater London, United Kingdom UCL Eastman Dental Institute Full time

Position Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled postdoctoral researcher to explore the genomic foundations of novel body structures and organismal diversity. This position is supported by a grant and is intended for a duration of 13 months.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will engage in the analysis of genomic and regulatory datasets, developing pipelines to facilitate analytical processes. The role requires a strong computational skill set, particularly in the analysis of functional genomics datasets, including ATAC-seq, Hi-C, and single-cell profiling. Familiarity with whole genome alignment, whole genome duplications, phylogenetic reconciliation, and rediploidisation processes is essential.

Candidate Profile

The ideal applicant will possess a PhD in bioinformatics, biology, or a related field, demonstrating a solid understanding of comparative genomics and regulatory evolution. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Julia is crucial, along with experience in designing analytical pipelines. A proven track record of scientific publications and presentations at international conferences is highly desirable.

What We Offer

This role presents exciting opportunities for professional growth and development, along with a comprehensive benefits package, which includes:

  • 41 days of annual leave (27 days of annual leave, 8 public holidays, and 6 closure days)
  • Option to purchase an additional 5 days of annual leave
  • A defined benefit pension scheme
  • Cycle to work scheme and season ticket loan

We encourage candidates who meet the qualifications to consider this opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research in the field of comparative genomics.
