Job Overview:

As a Secondary Special Educational Needs Coordinator, you will be instrumental in delivering customized support and guidance to young learners with SEND within our dynamic educational framework.

Your collaboration with permanent staff, SEND coordinators, and external specialists will be essential in fostering an inclusive and nurturing atmosphere where every student can excel.


Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing individualized and small group assistance to students with SEND, ensuring their unique needs are addressed.
  • Working alongside teaching staff to design and execute tailored learning plans and interventions that promote the academic, social, and emotional growth of students with SEND.
  • Utilizing sensory integration methods, communication techniques, and behavior management strategies to support students with diverse requirements.
  • Encouraging positive interactions and social skills development through structured activities and group engagements.
  • Establishing strong partnerships with parents, guardians, and external organizations to ensure a comprehensive approach to supporting students with SEND both in the educational setting and at home.
  • Providing compassionate personal care to students, including assistance with personal hygiene needs.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Relevant experience working with students with SEND, particularly at the secondary level.
  • A solid understanding of secondary educational frameworks and strategies for assisting students with diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities, with a focus on effective collaboration with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
  • Empathy, patience, and a positive outlook towards supporting the unique strengths and challenges of students with SEND.
  • Desirable qualifications or training in supporting students with SEND, such as a Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools (SEND pathway).
