Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team at Empowering Learning Ltd. as a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support Teaching Assistant. The successful candidate will work closely with a student who has an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) in a mainstream secondary school setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the classroom teacher and SEN department to develop and implement personalized learning plans tailored to the student's specific needs outlined in the EHCP.
- Encourage independent learning and promote the student's participation in class activities, ensuring their inclusion within the mainstream classroom.
- Monitor and track the student's progress, maintaining accurate records and providing regular feedback to the SEN team and relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other school staff, such as educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, and occupational therapists, to implement additional strategies and support as required.
- Attend relevant meetings, including Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings and annual reviews, actively contributing to discussions regarding the student's progress and individual needs.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, providing updates on the student's progress and offering guidance on how to support their child's learning at home.
- Adhere to the school's policies and procedures, ensuring the safety and well-being of the student at all times.
Requirements:
- Proven experience supporting students with special educational needs, preferably in a mainstream secondary school setting.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience to meet the challenges and demands of working with students with SEN.
