Location: We operate a flexible, hybrid working environment with the candidate required to travel to either Arqiva's London, Winchester or Emley Moor office up to twice a week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with essential stakeholders within a Smart Meter engineering context to identify customer needs and ensure that solutions are effectively designed and planned to meet or exceed those expectations.
  • Lead the design and construction efforts, working with both internal and external contributors to guarantee that the solution aligns with customer requirements.
  • Investigate engineering challenges related to RAN equipment and systems, identifying causes of component failures and formulating solutions for complete resolution.
  • Provide technical support to ensure that customer radio networks consistently meet established Service Level Agreements.
  • Generate detailed, documented technical solutions and reports for both internal and external distribution.
  • Identify potential risks during the design and build phases through comprehensive design reviews and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and enforce engineering standards and procedures while offering technical guidance to both external and internal stakeholders.
  • Transform customer concept designs into detailed specifications for design, construction, and testing that fulfill customer requirements while considering total cost of ownership and operational efficiency.
  • Foster innovation within the organization, promoting a culture of continuous improvement through both minor and significant initiatives.

Candidate Profile:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or an HND (or equivalent) in Engineering, or relevant experience in radio network design and operations.
  • Proven experience in establishing standards for the design, development, and testing of custom and commercial off-the-shelf software/hardware for telecommunications networks, IP networks, smart metering, and IoT.
  • Demonstrated experience in defining processes and engineering practices pertinent to the area of expertise for platforms that support services.
  • Extensive experience collaborating with suppliers to develop new services and capabilities while effectively managing third-party functionality issues.
  • Background in radio network design and optimization, including link budgets, radio propagation, and protocols.
  • Strong understanding of technologies associated with Radio Networks, M2M Communications, and large-scale data collection, processing, and management.
