Sales and Account Development Specialist

A Sales and Account Development Specialist role has arisen to work with Freight Personnel, a leading Air Cargo and Express Wholesaler company. The successful candidate will be based from home, covering the West Midlands, Mid-Wales, and South West area, with a focus on Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Worcester, Gloucester, and Bristol.

The Sales and Account Development Specialist will conduct daily sales visits to clients' customer base to promote the company's products and tariffs. Gathering feedback from the market in terms of service satisfaction and competitiveness is an essential aspect of the role.

Freight Personnel mainly offers Air Freight Wholesale Services to Freight Forwarders, as well as Air Express Courier and Road Services. The Sales and Account Development Specialist will be responsible for both new business and existing business development. Previous experience in Airline, Air Freight Forwarding, International Courier, or GSA roles is essential, as is face-to-face customer interaction.

The Sales and Account Development Specialist will have the support of a sales co-ordinator based in Manchester and Heathrow who will make some appointments and provide admin support.

  1. Conduct external sales visits to promote the company's products and tariffs.
  2. Make telesales calls to clients and prospects.
  3. Use available tools to secure new business throughout the entire product range.
  4. Resolve any customer service issues arising and delegate where necessary.
  5. Provide feedback via internal reporting relating to market rates, volume levels, competitor activities & service levels.
  6. Monitor and review business levels from assigned customer base and follow up on new or lost business in a timely manner.
  7. Process and follow up credit applications in a timely manner.
  8. Maintain assigned customer database/mailing list.
  9. Perform administrative tasks as required.
  10. Participate in special events.
  11. Undertake special tasks when required.
Essential Skills:
  1. Sales experience essential, preferably within the Airfreight Industry.
  2. Ability to discuss and negotiate complex issues in a clear manner.
  3. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to create & develop loyalty among the clients' customer base.
  4. Ability to work in a targeted environment.
  5. A high degree of initiative and self-sufficiency with good time management.
  6. Ability to delegate and track tasks.
  7. Full, clean driving licence essential.
