Job Title: Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer to join our Tech team at JamDoughnut Ltd. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our suite of mobile and web applications.

About the Role:
  • Design and implement well-structured, testable, and reliable code for our mobile apps and web platforms.
  • Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of the applications as we scale.
  • Implement efficient and reliable integration with PostgreSQL databases, always looking to optimize performance.
  • Utilize Docker for containerization, ensuring seamless deployment and scalability of applications.
  • Collaborate with your team in a hands-on environment using pair and mob programming practices.
  • Contribute towards the technical strategy of our platform.
  • Maintain a sensible level of documentation.
About You:
  • 5+ years of experience working with Ruby on Rails, Ruby version, and gem managers in a commercial environment.
  • Proven experience developing RESTful API backends for JavaScript apps.
  • Experience with CI/CD and familiarity with GitHub Actions.
  • Implemented automated testing frameworks (unit, integration, e2e, performance).
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and best practices.
  • Comfortable working within a fast-paced environment with strict time constraints.
  • Familiarity with YAML and configuration management practices.
  • API design, implementation, and integration.

Interview Process:
  • Initial call (10 minutes).
  • Call with the Hiring Manager.
  • Practical task + onsite interview.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: Up to £100,000.00 per year

Additional pay: Bonus scheme

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate: Loughton: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

Experience: Ruby on Rails: 3 years (required), React: 3 years (preferred)

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Loughton
