Role Overview

The primary responsibility of the Airport Engineering Specialist is to provide maintenance services for airport assets in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner, ensuring compliance with quality standards and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and on-demand maintenance on engineering assets to ensure optimal functionality, adhering to agreed service levels and providing a seamless operational environment. This includes diagnosing issues, assessing required repairs, and executing necessary work.
  • Conduct maintenance diagnosis and troubleshooting on electrical, mechanical, and electronic assets related to airport operations.
  • Execute maintenance tasks beyond core competencies as needed.
  • Utilize AIAL IT and work management systems (e.g., FSI) for work order management and data entry, leveraging maintenance system data to analyze performance metrics.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and engineering tasks in compliance with regulatory obligations.
  • Promote and adhere to safe working practices, contributing to a culture of safety through active participation in safety management systems and compliance with regulations.
  • Engage in initiatives aimed at enhancing performance within the engineering sector.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and team members regarding the status of maintenance tasks.
  • Mentor colleagues and apprentices, fostering skill development.
  • Continuously upgrade skills to accommodate the maintenance and operation of newly introduced assets, ensuring their performance remains at an optimal level.
  • Participate in risk assessments and utilize method statements to ensure all maintenance tasks are executed safely and to specification.
  • Collaborate with the AIAL Security Management Team to promote adherence to the Security Management System (SeMs) across the airport campus, ensuring timely reporting of any suspicious activities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Completion of a recognized Engineering Apprenticeship in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronic, or Building Services disciplines.

Framework and Boundaries

  • Contribute to the development and efficient operation of the AMA and related processes that support maintenance activities.
  • Adhere to local business and external policies, procedures, and regulations while performing duties.
  • Ensure maintenance of assets aligns with standards outlined in Service Level Agreements and meets Key Performance Indicators.
  • Monitor the quality of work performed by contract maintenance providers as required.
