Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Associate Practitioner (AP) posts to support our registered Biomedical Scientists within the histopathology laboratory at York Hospital. This busy department provides a comprehensive diagnostic service to the York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate the Trust's values and behaviours.

The core hours are 08:30am until 05:00pm.

Main Duties of the Job

It is essential for an Associate Practitioner at the Band 4 level to demonstrate competency at a Higher Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA Band 3) level or equivalent, and have significant experience of working in a histopathology or a similar pathology environment.

Experience of embedding and microtomy is desirable. Training will be provided.

The successful applicant must have excellent organisational skills, effective interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work using their own initiative to meet tight deadlines. They must be able to work with minimum supervision.
