About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced nurse to join our Breast Cancer team at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Breast Cancer Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing supportive care and information to patients and their families with breast cancer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate programmes of patient care to ensure a high standard of nursing care.
  • Work closely with the breast care multi-disciplinary team members to ensure patients are supported and their needs are assessed within the outpatient setting.
  • Promote a patient-focused approach to care in collaboration with all relevant healthcare professionals.
  • Assist in the management and organisation of the nursing service in all clinical cancer areas when required.
Key Working Relationships

As a Breast Cancer Nurse, you will work closely with:

  • Chemotherapy Unit
  • Tumour site Multi-disciplinary teams / Clinical Nurse Specialists
  • Acute Oncology Service
  • Pharmacy
  • Pathology
  • Administration services
  • Emergency service
Person Specification

We are looking for a nurse who:

  • Has the ability to prioritise and organise workload
  • Can assess, plan, and evaluate patient care needs according to the individual

Desirable skills and qualifications include:

  • Computer/IT literate
  • Cannulation and venepuncture skills
  • Intravenous drug administration skills
  • Port a caths, and PICC
  • Involvement in standard setting and audit

Essential qualifications include:

  • Current Registered Nurse with the NMC or working towards (IELTs, CBT, OSCE)
  • Degree in Nurse related specialty or working towards

Desirable qualifications include:

  • Mentorship or teaching qualification
Knowledge and Skills

We are looking for a nurse who:

  • Demonstrates awareness of current changes in the NHS - in particular related to Nursing
  • Evidence of further education, training, and on-going learning

Desirable knowledge and skills include:

  • Knowledge of clinical effectiveness, research, and audit
