Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated nurse to join our Breast Cancer team as a Breast Oncology Staff Nurse. The successful candidate will have a strong background in oncology nursing and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care.

Main Responsibilities

The Breast Oncology Staff Nurse will be responsible for providing supportive care and information to patients and their families with breast cancer in the outpatient setting. This will involve assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating programs of patient care in collaboration with the breast care multi-disciplinary team.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for promoting a patient-focused approach to care, working closely with all relevant healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive the best possible care.

Key Working Relationships

The successful candidate will work closely with the following teams:

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Ability to prioritise and organise workload
  • Ability to assess, plan, and evaluate patient care needs according to the individual
  • Computer/IT literacy
  • Cannulation and venepuncture skills
  • Intravenous drug administration skills
  • Port a caths, and PICC
  • Involvement in standard setting and audit

The successful candidate will also have:

  • Current Registered Nurse with the NMC or working towards (IELTs, CBT, OSCE)
  • Degree in Nurse related specialty or working towards
  • Mentorship or teaching qualification

The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Demonstrates awareness of current changes in the NHS - in particular related to Nursing
  • Evidence of further education, training, and on-going learning
  • Knowledge of clinical effectiveness, research, and audit
