University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled Band 6 Quality Nurse to join their Infection Prevention team. As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of infection prevention and control across the trust.
Main Responsibilities:- Support the implementation of the Trust's Infection Prevention programme
- Promote adherence to UHL policies designed to reduce the risk of infection
- Provide guidance and support to staff to reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infection
- Support the delivery of the Trust-wide IP education programme and local education in response to need
- Support IP audit and surveillance programme
- Reports to Senior Nurse Infection Prevention, supported by Specialist Nurses
- Work with Clinical Management Groups to develop action plans to promote and evidence compliance with the annual Infection Prevention programme
- Assists clinical staff in answering patient/carers concerns and complaints with issues relating to infection prevention
- Provide advice on cleaning and decontamination processes
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis investigations and support the development of action plans as required
- Provide infection prevention advice to support compliance with the IP annual programme and other centrally and locally agreed interventions to reduce the risk of infection
- Communicates actions required for safe infection prevention and control practice
- 1st level RN
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- 1st level degree or equivalent
- Teaching qualification (ENB 998/730 or equivalent)
- Post-registration experience at a band 6
- A minimum of 3-5 years post-registration experience in general nursing or other specialist nursing roles
- Experience of clinical audit and working with and leading on standard setting or working as infection prevention and control link staff
- Able to demonstrate a commitment to and understanding of the importance of treating all individuals with dignity and respect appropriate to their individual needs
- All staff are expected to engage in compassionate and inclusive leadership in the provision of high-quality care and interactions with others
- Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Enhanced knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control theory and practices
- Knowledge of NICE guidance and other national guidance relevant to Infection Prevention and Control

- Excellent understanding of the NMC Code and its application to practice
