Job Title: Clinical Nurse Specialist - Palliative Care

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Palliative Care team at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality patient care and providing specialist advice to our multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a caseload of patients with palliative care needs, providing holistic assessments and individualized patient care.
  • Provide clinical expertise and specialist advice in palliative and end-of-life care.
  • Act as a resource and offer ongoing support to ward areas, working alongside staff to ensure the implementation and development of high-quality end-of-life care.
  • Participate in the promotion of patient-centered care, establishing and maintaining a supportive relationship with patients and their families.
  • Support and enable patients and carers to make informed decisions about their treatment and care options.
Requirements:
  • Leadership and motivational skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate professional and personal diplomacy.
  • Recognition of own limitations.
Desirable:
  • Experience at Band 6 level.
  • Knowledge of audit and research.
  • Evidence of leadership/management.
Essential:
  • Experience in caring for patients with palliative care needs and those who are dying.
  • At least 3 years qualified B5 or above Registered Nurse.
  • Degree in Palliative Care/related degree.
  • Excellent communication skills and evidence.
