About the Role

Randstad Student Support is seeking a highly skilled Autism Support Specialist to work with autistic students studying at universities and colleges in the Bristol area.

The successful candidate will be a trusted advisor for students, providing support and guidance to help them overcome challenges and achieve their academic goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students in understanding their academic requirements and developing effective study skills
  • Help students manage anxiety, stress, and low mood, and develop strategies to maintain a healthy work-life balance
  • Assist students in building confidence and independence, and developing skills to overcome barriers to learning
  • Provide one-to-one support to students, using a person-centered approach to meet their individual needs
  • Work collaboratively with students, academic staff, and other support services to ensure a comprehensive support package
Requirements
  • Qualified to undergraduate degree level (level 6 as minimum)
  • Extensive training in adult autism, including the National Autistic Society Modules (non-medical helper package) or the Optimum Training Course: Autism and ADHD in Higher Education
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff
  • Punctuality and reliability, with the ability to manage a caseload of students
  • Good organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
