About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at Mpac Lambert. As a key member of our design team, you will play a crucial role in the development of our next generation of automation machines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality electrical design output, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Collaborate with the Controls Systems Manager to ensure design solutions are delivered in a cost-effective manner and scope changes are managed effectively.
  • Manage workload and schedules to meet delivery deadlines, ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Ensure electrical design output meets company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate project status to the Controls Systems Manager, customers, and suppliers, ensuring effective collaboration and project progress.
  • Contribute to the department's continuous improvement programme, identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing changes to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Compile information and report on project performance relative to departmental KPIs, ensuring alignment with company strategy.
  • Perform technical support during internal and external design review meetings, ensuring key design approvals are achieved in line with project schedules.
  • Liaise with internal and external panel builders and electricians to ensure construction aligns with design documents, minimizing waste and ensuring efficient project delivery.
  • Perform verification activities to ensure as-built installations align with design documents.
  • Apply technical due diligence, ensuring products are fully capable and compliant with regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • Experience in software design of industrial automation, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements.
  • Proven track record of providing innovative solutions in an innovative environment.
  • Ability to interpret customer requirements and present design solutions at internal design reviews.
  • Commercial awareness, with experience in managing resources, scope changes, and implications of choice.
  • Knowledge of British and international standards relative to the design and installation of industrial automation systems.
  • Experience in conducting assessments and generating technical documents to support compliance to the Machinery Directive and other British and international standards.
Qualifications
  • Apprentice-trained in electrical or mechatronic engineering.
  • HNC, HND, or BSC in a relevant engineering discipline, with 3+ years of post-graduate design experience.
  • Proficient in the use of electrical design software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to prioritize work within tight timescales.
