Job Summary

The Michigan School Public Relations Association is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Psychologist to join our team. As a School Psychologist, you will play a critical role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of students in our PK-12 special education program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform special education evaluations within the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education, and Kent ISD guidelines.
  • Administer and interpret a wide variety of assessments for the evaluation of students in the areas of Specific Learning Disabilities, Cognitive Impairments, Emotional Impairments, Other Health Impairments, and Autism Spectrum Disorders.
  • Support the whole child through the Multi-Tiered System of Supports with the foundational belief of Least Restrictive Environment.
  • Write and complete special education evaluation reports, Individualized Education Program plans (including PLAAFP statements), Functional Behavior Assessments, and Positive Behavior Support Plans.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based strategies and interventions to support student learning and behavior.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other professionals to provide comprehensive support to students and families.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in special education and apply this knowledge to improve student outcomes.

Requirements

  • Current and valid school psychologist certificate from the Michigan Department of Education.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and other professionals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and extensive knowledge relevant to accommodations, modifications, and evidence-based strategies and interventions.
  • Knowledge of trauma, anxiety, and depression and how these issues can impact students of all ages within and beyond the educational setting.
  • Willingness and commitment to equity, social justice, and inclusion in all practices.
  • Training in, or willingness to be trained in, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention – Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI).
