Position Overview

EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGIST (Special Education, Grades PK-12)
(0.5 – 1.0 FTE)

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid school psychologist certification issued by the Michigan Department of Education
  • Expertise in conducting special education assessments in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education, and relevant district guidelines
  • Proficient in administering and interpreting diverse assessments to evaluate students across various categories, including Specific Learning Disabilities, Cognitive Impairments, Emotional Disturbances, Other Health Impairments, and Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Commitment to supporting the holistic development of students through a Multi-Tiered System of Supports, emphasizing the principle of Least Restrictive Environment
  • Competence in drafting and finalizing special education evaluation reports, Individualized Education Program (IEP) plans (including Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance), Functional Behavior Assessments, and Positive Behavior Support Plans
  • Familiarity or willingness to receive training in the Child Study/Student Assistance Team process, Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management, Section 504, and Crisis Intervention Protocols
  • Strong analytical skills and comprehensive knowledge of accommodations, modifications, and evidence-based strategies and interventions
  • Understanding of trauma, anxiety, and depression, and their effects on students across various age groups within and outside the educational environment
  • Dedication to equity, social justice, and inclusivity in all professional practices
  • Training in, or willingness to be trained in, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention – Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)
  • Ability to demonstrate enthusiasm, adaptability, and collaborative skills while working with students, families, educators, administrators, mental health professionals, and community organizations
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management abilities
  • Proficient in utilizing technology for data collection and documentation purposes
  • Commitment to adhering to all district policies and procedures while ensuring confidentiality in the workplace

Compensation: As per the Contract Salary Schedule
