Job Summary:

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking highly motivated and proactive individuals to fill the role of Patient Administrator. This position is vital to the smooth running of our services and has a significant impact on our patients' experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to patients and healthcare professionals, ensuring a comprehensive and efficient service.
  • Manage the booking of appointments, letters, and actions from outpatient clinics, and facilitate the flow of information between clinicians and support services.
  • Develop strong relationships with consultants, admin teams, nursing staff, and external providers to ensure a consistent and effective administration service.
  • Work closely with the team to provide a comprehensive administration service, including direct telephone communication with patients and health professionals.
  • Provide cross-cover for other patient pathway coordinators to ensure a consistent and effective administration service is always maintained.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize workload.
  • Flexibility to work across a large team and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft systems and ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Tactful and sensitive approach to dealing with difficult situations.
