About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Commissioning and Contract Officer to join our Public Health Commissioning Team at West Sussex County Council.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commission and manage medium-high risk/value contracts to ensure performance is achieved.
  • Collate performance information through establishing and managing routine monitoring processes, including regular meetings with providers.
  • Identify performance issues, agree performance improvement plans, and use knowledge of performance levers within contracts to improve performance.
  • Support the identification and delivery of substantial efficiencies from established contracts and ensure future contracting includes financial KPIs to maximize value, alongside improvements in outcomes for service users.
Requirements
  • Advanced organizational knowledge of systems, procedures, and policies required to deliver a demanding commissioning and contract management service.
  • Excellent relationship management and communication skills to work effectively with a wide range of external and internal stakeholders to ensure effective contract management is achieved.
  • Understanding of market dynamics and market intelligence and/or development strategies.
  • Ability to develop outcome-based contract performance measures focused on service user experiences, service quality, and financial performance.
