Role Overview

Location: Cardiff

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Depot Operations Manager to join our team at Allied Mills. As a key member of the Depot leadership team, you will support the Depot Manager in leading and motivating the Despatch and Driver Teams to ensure customer and legal compliance standards are achieved.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure a safe working environment is created for the Despatch and Driver teams through engagement in local safety initiatives and compliance to both company and legal health and safety standards
  • Analyse and utilise information from the Depot Management Systems to make informed decisions on productivity, product flow, and resource allocation
  • Lead and motivate the Despatch and Transport teams by setting clear accountabilities and continuous improvement
  • Manage daily operations of 3rd party work
  • Work closely with the Depot Manager to develop performance and tactical plans for the Depot
  • Drive engagement within the teams through effective communications plans and regular briefings and 1 to 1s with the teams
  • Deputise for the Depot Manager during holidays and absence
  • Build effective relationships within the wider Regional Team and across the Transport and Despatch leaders in the business to ensure best practice is shared to enhance performance
Requirements
  • Experience in a Transport or Despatch Management role in a commercially challenging environment
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Knowledge of transport and warehouse management systems
  • Hold TMCPC
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex information into concise messages
  • Results-focused, constantly looking to drive performance and develop CI initiatives
