Position Overview

We are seeking to expand our team with the addition of three Advanced Respiratory Physiologists. This role is integral to our community diagnostic services, which operate primarily during weekdays, with the flexibility to work four extended shifts.

The ideal candidates will be enthusiastic, dynamic, and highly skilled registered Respiratory Physiologists, proficient in both fundamental and advanced respiratory and sleep assessments. Our Cardio-Respiratory department spans multiple locations, with the primary services located at our main facilities. Cross-site collaboration will be a key aspect of this role.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be responsible for conducting a diverse array of routine and specialized assessments, including:

  • Comprehensive lung function tests
  • Mannitol challenge assessments
  • Respiratory muscle evaluations
  • Capillary blood gas analysis
  • Hypoxic challenge assessments
  • Sleep study evaluations, including overnight oximetry and limited channel studies
  • Actigraphy

Additionally, there will be opportunities to enhance skills in cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) and to support the CPAP and NIV teams with initiation and ongoing monitoring of treatments.

Collaboration with multidisciplinary team members, including respiratory physiotherapists, nurse specialists, and medical consultants, is essential to ensure optimal patient care.

All applicants must hold registration with a recognized professional body, such as the Registration Council of Clinical Physiologists, Academy of Healthcare Science, or HCPC.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential:

  • Registration with RCCP/AHCS/HCPC
  • Completion of ARTP Part 1 and 2 or equivalent practitioner qualification
  • Degree-level knowledge of respiratory physiology or equivalent

  • Postgraduate qualifications
  • Mentorship certification

Experience:

  • Understanding of NHS modernization initiatives
