About the Service...
The Oremi Day Centre provides personalized and comprehensive support to individuals over 18 who experience severe and/or persistent mental health challenges, particularly those residing in specific boroughs. We focus on delivering targeted services to individuals from African, Caribbean, and Arabic-speaking backgrounds. Our service aims to help users avoid prolonged hospital stays and reduce dependency on mental health services.
We promote recovery and work to prevent social exclusion among individuals with mental health support needs, offering a diverse range of group activities tailored to their requirements. These activities are facilitated by our skilled team of Group Facilitators, sessional tutors, and in collaboration with service users. The primary goal of our support is to prevent hospital admissions, facilitate timely discharges, promote recovery, and enhance social inclusion, thereby helping users maximize their independence and well-being, as well as access employment and training opportunities.
Activities at the Oremi Centre include the Hearing Voices Group, Social Group, Sewing Club, Walking Group, Yoga, and mindfulness sessions.

As a Lead Recovery Support Specialist at Hestia, you will play a vital role in our Mental Health & Complex Needs Service. Your efforts will significantly impact the lives of our service users, guiding them toward empowerment and independence.
Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing the support and well-being of a designated group of service users, utilizing holistic, person-centered support planning with SMART objectives and the recovery star to enhance their independence, maintain stable housing, and ensure a good quality of life.
- Ensuring that specific services and activities are tailored to meet the needs of African, Caribbean, and Arabic-speaking users.
- Conducting home visits for support sessions or meeting users in suitable community locations, and developing effective interventions for those who are challenging to engage.
- Facilitating access for service users to medical services and mainstream community resources.
- Ensuring that each allocated service user has a comprehensive needs and risk assessment along with a SMART support plan, which will be reviewed regularly.
- Minimizing unplanned and emergency hospital admissions due to mental health relapses by formulating, implementing, and reviewing support plans in collaboration with service users and relevant professionals.
- Coordinating effectively with other agencies involved in the support of service users as necessary.
- Encouraging ongoing engagement with existing support networks, including faith-based groups and informal sources of assistance.
