About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Clinical Lead to join our team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the clinical development and delivery of the Genomic AI Network of Excellence, a newly formed entity commissioned by NHS England to accelerate the adoption of AI in genomic medicine in the NHS.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership to the Genomic AI Network of Excellence, working closely with partners across the AI and genomic medicine ecosystems to build a community of clinical leadership and expertise.
  • Develop and implement clinical delivery models, generating evidence required to support adoption of AI innovations in Genomics within the NHS.
  • Work with the Network Director and work package Clinical Leads to provide strategic direction and leadership across the Network's programmes of work.
  • Identify key areas of practice and develop solutions to address the distributed nature of NHS genomic informatics, producing frameworks for common approaches and solutions.
  • Deliver exemplar translational research programmes to generate evidence for adoption, including data mining and natural language processing, variant interpretation, and AI deployment platforms.
Requirements
  • GMC registration with CCT in a relevant medical specialty.
  • Extensive knowledge of specialist areas, acquired through PhD or equivalent experience, preferably in subject area relevant to genomics and/or AI.
  • Extensive and ongoing clinical experience in genomics or related specialty.
  • Experience in transformation and development of new clinical patient pathways in the NHS.
  • Experience of working effectively with senior leaders, including bringing together key opinion leaders locally and nationally to deliver successful outcomes.
  • An understanding and experience of the UK research funding landscape, including experience of working with partners such as the National Institute of Healthcare Research (NIHR).
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Expertise or knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and its capabilities in healthcare settings.
  • Invited speaker or subject matter expert at regional, national, and international meetings or educational events.
  • Proven track record in obtaining substantive research funding as principal investigator and publications in leading academic journals.
