Job Title: Water Resources Operational Risk Manager

South West Water is seeking an experienced Water Resources Operational Risk Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Drought and Resilience Team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and sustainable provision of water services to our communities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the reporting of abstraction activities within South West Water, covering the South West Water, Bristol Water, Bournemouth Water, and Isles of Scilly regions.
  • Manage water abstraction permits, including tracking permit conditions, abstraction activities, deadlines, and reporting obligations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections and reports of abstraction sites to verify adherence to approved abstraction limits and operational requirements.
  • Support the Abstraction Strategy Manager in understanding current abstraction performance and collaborate to shape the Abstraction Strategy.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to regulatory authorities, stakeholders, and internal departments, in accordance with permit conditions and regulatory standards.
Requirements:
  • Proven leadership qualities, including the ability to motivate and mentor team members, prioritize tasks, and manage resources efficiently.
  • Track record of delivery, personal resilience, and a self-starter with a natural collaborator who actively engages with other senior managers across the business.
  • Hydrology/Environmental Science/Water resource management/related Degree.
  • Experience in water resources management, environmental compliance, or related fields.
  • Experience in water abstraction reporting, regulatory compliance, and permit management.
  • Analytical and competent with statistical analysis software, data visualization tools, and environmental monitoring instrumentation.
