Role Responsibility

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Social Worker to join our Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking (UAS) Children's Service in Kent. As a Social Worker in this service, you will play a vital role in supporting newly arrived unaccompanied asylum-seeking children in Kent, ensuring their voice is heard, and providing them with the necessary support to navigate the UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to newly arrived unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and provide them with support and guidance.
  • Work closely with the UAS Children's Service team to ensure the best possible outcomes for vulnerable children.
  • Develop and enhance your social work knowledge and skills, with opportunities to apply your theories and tools to achieve the best outcomes for children.
  • Work across Kent, with opportunities to work nationally across the UK, both with other Local Authorities under the National Transfer Scheme and with exploring families in the UK.
Our Offer
  • Full induction and training to ensure you have the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in your role.
  • Manageable caseloads of between 15-18 cases, allowing you to focus on providing high-quality support to children.
  • A competitive basic salary of between £32,933 and £43,592, depending on your experience.
  • Annual Leave allowance of 29 days rising to 30 days after 5 years service, plus bank holidays and an extra day off at Christmas.
  • Up to £2,000 car market premium, £3,000 annual market premium, and £3,000 golden hello payment.
  • Relocation packages up to £8,000 and an excellent local government pension scheme.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. You will also need to be registered as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England and undergo an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service.
