Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Lead Midwife specializing in perinatal outcomes. This role involves providing expert guidance and support to women and their families who are navigating the challenges of pregnancy loss and neonatal death. The successful candidate will spearhead initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of care and reducing perinatal mortality rates.
Key Responsibilities
As the Lead Midwife, you will:
- Oversee the perinatal outcomes service, offering specialized advice and education to clinical teams to ensure the delivery of safe and empathetic care.
- Analyze data from relevant reports to identify trends and develop actionable strategies for improvement.
- Implement recommendations from national reports in collaboration with midwifery leadership to ensure sustainable enhancements in care practices.
- Conduct regular audits to assess the effectiveness of implemented actions and improvements.
- Facilitate external review meetings to utilize the PMRT tool effectively.
- Prepare comprehensive monthly and quarterly reports, ensuring robust action planning.
- Ensure compliance with national data collection requirements.
- Collaborate with the education team to integrate learning into daily clinical practices.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of shared learning initiatives in partnership with the audit and education teams.
- Work closely with governance teams to monitor adherence to national safety initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Registered Midwife with specialist knowledge in perinatal morbidity and mortality standards.
- Degree or equivalent experience at a master's level.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating multidisciplinary teams and leading clinical services.
- Proven ability to develop and deliver educational programs across various disciplines.
- Experience in practice development and change management, particularly in response to service challenges.
Desirable:
- Experience presenting to Trust Boards or sub-committees, with a focus on data analysis and practice improvement.
- Background in team management and project leadership.
- Experience in developing guidelines and policies.
