As a Perinatal Mortality Review Specialist Midwife at North Middlesex University Hospital, you will play a crucial role in leading our approach to excellence in preventing and reducing perinatal mortality and morbidity within maternity and referral to other external organizations.
Main ResponsibilitiesKey Accountabilities:
- Lead the perinatal mortality and morbidity service to provide specialist, expert advice, and education to support our clinical teams to deliver safe and compassionate care.
- Draw themes and trends from PMRT report, EMBRACE and MNSI findings and develop action plans.
- Conduct gap analysis with Quality and Governance team and benchmark our service against national reports and draw themes and trends.
- Lead on implementation of actions and recommendations from PMRT report, EMBRACE and MNSI findings, working in partnership with our Associate Directors of Midwifery and Director of Midwifery to sustain and embed the improvements.
- Ensure the actions taken and improvements are effective by conducting regular audits.
North Middlesex University Hospital is part of North Central London integrated care system, working closely with partners and measuring financial and performance objectives at this system level. We are proud of our staff and want to ensure their training allows them to provide excellent clinical care, and we are a training unit for medical students and nursing and midwifery students.
Person SpecificationEssential Criteria:
- Registered Midwife.
- Evidence of continued professional/personal development.
- Understand statutory requirement for Midwives.
Desirable Criteria:
- Evidence of further leadership training.
Skills, Abilities and Experience:
- Demonstrable understanding of PMRT.
- Minimum of 3 years post qualification experience in Midwifery and 2 years relevant clinical or management experience.
- Excellent standards of all round Midwifery knowledge and clinical skills and a commitment to family centered care.
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to demonstrate awareness of research based practice and sound knowledge of guidelines in the UK.
- Work autonomously within guidelines and sphere of professional practice.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Excellent IT skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external professionals.
Personal Qualities:
- Excellent communication skills and ability to be responsive to highly emotive conversations.
- Very good organisational and planning skills.
- Ability to develop excellent working relationships with all staff, be supportive and motivate others.
- Resilient and able to maintain personal effectiveness and work well under pressure.
- Flexible, ambitious and willing to develop new skills including completing appropriate training as required.
