Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our team at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide specialist input to strategic planning, development, audit, and evaluation of clinical services, protocols, and policies within the specialized area.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical expertise at an advanced level in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of highly complex clients.
- Work alongside Clinical Leads, Team Managers, and Operational Manager to provide specialist input to strategic planning, development, audit, and evaluation of clinical services, protocols, and policies within the specialized area.
- Lead and work with the Community Response Service to ensure that service demand is met with a focus on complex discharge planning.
- Offer support and supervision to Band 6 staff around discharge planning and ensuring NHCT policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Ensure an appropriate deployment of staff within the team, ensuring an appropriate skill mix across the units.
- Provide support, direction, and guidance on a day-to-day basis to staff team members and other external agencies.
Person Specification
- Degree in Occupational Therapy or related field.
- State registered with Health and Care Professions Council.
- Post Graduate training relevant to specialist area.
About Us
We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck, and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centers. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate.
