Job Overview

Position: Mechanical Design Engineer - Thermal/Stress

Location: Remote with occasional onsite presence in South West England

Compensation: £60,000 - £80,000 depending on experience (PAYE contract)

Contract Length: 6 months or more

Industry: Engineering/Aerospace

People Source Consulting Ltd is collaborating with a prominent entity in the Engineering sector to identify skilled Stress Engineers for a significant initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct stress analysis utilizing advanced finite element and classical calculation techniques, along with supporting testing efforts.
  • Execute heat transfer analysis, both practically and theoretically, including analytical correlations and complex finite element methods, alongside topics in thermodynamics, single and multi-phase flows, and energy systems.
  • Offer technical leadership to global engineering teams across various time zones.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.
  • Engage in requirements validation and ensure project and product compliance.
  • Manage risks effectively and contribute to process development.
  • Investigate root causes and implement corrective actions.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Experience in performing thermal and stress analysis on turbomachinery, gas turbine engines, motors, or similar components and systems.

Preferred Skills:

  • Expertise in all forms of heat transfer, thermodynamics, thermal sciences, and two-phase thermophysics.
  • Familiarity with linear static, nonlinear/elasto-plastic, fatigue (HCF & LCF), modal, shock, harmonic, random vibration, and crack growth analyses.
