Research Fellow in Hematology
The Haemato-Oncology Team at The Institute of Cancer Research, London, under the leadership of Prof. Kamil R. Kranc, is seeking a dedicated and proficient postdoctoral researcher with expertise in both normal and malignant hematopoiesis. This role is initially available for a duration of one year. The focus of the project will be to investigate the effects of the epitranscriptome and hypoxic conditions on normal hematopoiesis and the progression of leukemia. Our primary objective is to identify and validate novel therapeutic targets in leukemia that selectively affect cancer stem cells while preserving normal hematopoiesis.
This research will be guided by Prof. Kamil R. Kranc. Recent significant publications from the laboratory include studies published in reputable journals such as Nature Cancer, Cell Stem Cell, and Blood Advances, which reveal new insights into the mechanisms of normal and malignant hematopoiesis. The successful candidate will utilize advanced methodologies to discover and validate innovative therapeutic targets in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and key regulators of hematopoietic stem cell biology.
Essential Qualifications
The ideal candidate must possess a PhD in a relevant life sciences discipline related to hematology and oncology. Extensive research experience in in vivo studies, molecular biology, RNA biology/epitranscriptome, hypoxia biology, and omics techniques (such as RNA-seq, CLIP-seq, ChIP-seq), along with protein biochemistry, is essential. A strong publication record in the fields of RNA and/or hypoxia will be considered advantageous.
The Institute of Cancer Research has a workforce policy stating that Postdoctoral Training Fellows may be employed for a maximum of 7 years at the ICR, provided that the total postdoctoral experience (including prior roles at this level elsewhere) does not exceed 10 years.
Department Information:
The Haemato-Oncology Team, led by Professor Kranc, is part of the Division of Molecular Pathology.
