Job Overview

The Royal Marsden is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Clinical Research Fellow to join our team. As a Clinical Research Fellow, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in clinical research, including proposal, design, and development of academic institutional and/or multicentre clinical trials.

Main Duties

  • Develop clinical research skills to propose, design, and develop academic institutional and/or multicentre clinical trials with support from consultants and experienced statisticians and trial managers.
  • Develop grant writing skills for peer-reviewed funding and/or endorsement of academic clinical and translational studies.
  • Design translational research protocols in collaboration with clinician scientists and statisticians.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • Eligible for full GMC registration.
  • MRCP or equivalent.

Desirable Criteria

  • Trainee in medical oncology or clinical oncology (ideally with FRCR).

Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Management of cancer patients, including radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
  • Training at specialist registrar level.

Desirable Criteria

  • Postgraduate teaching.

Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge

Essential Criteria

  • Ability and willingness to work within a multi-disciplinary team.

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience of clinical trials and management of patients on clinical trials.

Personal Qualities

Essential Criteria

  • Commitment to participate actively in clinical research and collaborate in translational research.

Flu Vaccination – What We Expect of Our Staff

At The Royal Marsden, we have an immune-compromised patient population who we must protect as much as we can against the flu virus. Each year, seasonal flu affects thousands of people in the UK. Occurring mainly in winter, it is an infectious respiratory disease capable of producing symptoms ranging from those similar to a common cold, through to very severe or even fatal disease.

The wellbeing of our staff and patients is of the utmost importance to us, and it is the expectation of The Royal Marsden that all patient-facing staff have an annual flu vaccination, provided free of charge by the Trust.
