About the Role

The Acute Medicine Unit at the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust is a Centre of Diagnostic Excellence, providing a comprehensive service aided by our excellent relationship with all general internal medicine specialties, pharmacy, and radiology. Complex medical diagnoses can be established and then referred to the relevant specialty for continuing care.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on involvement with medical admissions to the Acute Medicine Unit, focusing on timely assessment, management, and discharge.
  • Supervise junior doctors, ANPs & nurse consultants seeing patients in our medical SDEC & on AMU.
  • Supervise & co-ordinate junior doctors on AMU.
  • Teach & train undergraduate medical students & junior doctors.
  • Provide leadership & work as part of our team.
  • Be part of the on-call team.

Requirements

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (with a licence to practice).
  • Current MRCP(UK) qualification, or equivalent.
  • Certificate of Completion in Specialist Training (CCT) or within 6 months of completion of training at the time of interview.
  • Or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR), or
  • or European Community Rights.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Substantial (5 years+) Acute internal Medical experience.
  • Specialty Certificate Examinations in Acute Internal Medicine.
