Job Overview

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly motivated and ambitious Consultant in Stroke and Geriatric Medicine to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality care to patients with stroke and geriatric medicine needs.

Main Duties of the Job
  • Provide acute medical and rehabilitation care to patients with stroke and geriatric medicine needs.
  • Contribute to the development of the Stroke Service and work alongside existing Stroke Consultants, Care of the Elderly Team, and General Medicine colleagues.
  • Liaise with Neuroradiology, Neurosurgery, and Vascular Surgery Teams, as well as Stroke Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Matrons, Ward Managers, Nurses, Therapists, and Secretaries, to assist in providing excellent care to patients at all stages of the patient's hospital journey.
Person Specification
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council.
  • Certificate of Completion in Specialist Training (CCT) in General Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine or within 6 months of completion of training at the time of interview.
  • Evidence of additional stroke experience.
Experience
  • Broad exposure to medical diseases and the management of these.
  • Comprehensive patient management, ability to train/supervise junior medical staff and medical students.
