Position Overview:

Quantinuum is seeking a Research Scientist to enhance our quantum software division. This role is tailored for a driven individual eager to explore the frontiers of quantum computing. The focus will be on research areas such as error characterization, error mitigation, and the influence of noise on quantum algorithms.

In this position, you will propel our research initiatives by creating innovative theoretical models and practical tools aimed at tackling the complexities of quantum noise at both physical and logical computation levels. You will immerse yourself in a vibrant research atmosphere that champions interdisciplinary collaboration, creativity, intricate problem-solving, and open dialogue.

Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with software, applications, and experimental teams to integrate theoretical insights with practical applications, contributing to the advancement of robust and scalable quantum computing systems. Opportunities for collaboration with academic and industry partners may also arise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive research into error characterization, error mitigation, and noise resilience for quantum algorithms.
  • Develop innovative protocols for assessing quantum noise and benchmarking quantum device performance across various stack levels.
  • Design and implement novel strategies for error mitigation to improve the precision of quantum computations and execute experiments on Quantinuum's hardware.
  • Investigate the co-design of quantum algorithms alongside error mitigation and correction codes to optimize performance and create reliable resource estimations.
  • Contribute to the creation of simulation tools and software for modeling and analyzing noise in quantum systems.
  • Publish research outcomes in prestigious academic journals and present findings at conferences.
Essential Qualifications:
  • PhD or equivalent research experience in computer science, physics, mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • Strong foundational knowledge in quantum computing and/or quantum information.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for exploring new research domains and enhancing your technical expertise.
Preferred Skills:
  • Proficient programming abilities.
  • Expertise in statistical analysis.
  • Strong communication skills for articulating technical concepts clearly, both verbally and in writing.
