Working Hours: 40 Hours per week
At Norse Group, we provide a comprehensive testing and consultancy service tailored for the construction sector, conducting a variety of assessments both on-site and in our laboratories, while delivering expert guidance to our clients.
We are currently seeking a Project Technician to enhance our laboratory team. This role will be based at our facility in Norwich and will play a crucial part in executing the surface dressing design program within the pavement and structures service area of our highways laboratory.
The successful candidate will be responsible for data collection on-site and inputting this information into our Geographic Information System (GIS) to align with client objectives for future surface dressing initiatives. Additionally, the role encompasses the entry of historical surfacing projects into the GIS, utilizing CAD for data input, and manipulating data through Excel. Project management responsibilities will also be integrated within the pavement and structures team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Surface Treatments Engineer in implementing the surface dressing design program.
- Maintain and enhance the Geographic Information System (GIS) related to surface treatments and surfacing.
- Develop GIS plans for our supply chain.
- Represent the Surface Treatments Engineer at monthly progress meetings when necessary.
- Collaborate with the Project Engineer (Pavement & Structures) to produce reports on road and structure investigations.
- Provide support across all laboratory service areas as required.
- Aid the Senior Engineer in delivering reports to existing and potential clients.
- Oversee site operations, including traffic management and subcontractor coordination, ensuring safety and preventing utility strikes.
Essential Qualifications:
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to adhere to established guidelines to ensure compliance with standards.
- Strong communication skills, with confidence in engaging various internal and external stakeholders.
- Act as an ambassador for Norse when interacting with external companies.
- Capable of managing workload effectively, multitasking, and prioritizing tasks.
- Skilled in maintaining accurate records.
- Willingness to work in diverse environmental conditions, including dust and outdoor settings.
- Flexibility to work outside of Norfolk, including potential overnight stays and unsociable hours.
- Valid UK Driving License with C1+E entitlement.
