Construction Project Technician
Location: Norwich
Salary: £31,000 - £35,000 (Dependent on experience)
Hours: 40 per week
Norse Group is a leading provider of testing and consultancy services to the construction sector, delivering a comprehensive range of assessments both on-site and in our laboratory, while offering expert guidance to our clients.
We are currently seeking a Geo-environmental Engineer to become part of our laboratory team based in Norwich.
This role will support the execution of the surface dressing design program within the pavement and structures service area of our highway laboratory. Responsibilities include conducting data collection on-site and entering information into our Geographic Information System (GIS) to fulfill client objectives for future surface dressing initiatives. The position also entails updating historical surfacing schemes in the GIS, utilizing CAD for data input, and manipulating data through Excel. Project management responsibilities are also included within the Pavement and Structures team.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Surface Treatments Engineer in implementing the Surface Dressing Design Program.
  • Maintain and enhance the Geographic Information System (GIS) related to surface treatments and surfacing.
  • Develop GIS plans for the supply chain.
  • Represent the Surface Treatments Engineer at monthly progress meetings when required.
  • Support the Project Engineer (Pavement & Structures) in generating reports on road and structure investigations.
  • Provide assistance across all laboratory service areas as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Engineer to deliver reports to existing and potential clients.
  • Oversee site operations, including traffic management and subcontractor coordination, ensuring safety and compliance with utility regulations.
Key Requirements:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to adhere to established guidelines to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Strong communication skills, with confidence in engaging a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Act as an ambassador for Norse when interacting with external companies.
  • Capable of managing workload effectively, with strong multitasking and prioritization skills.
  • Maintain accurate records diligently.
  • Willingness to work in various environmental conditions, including dust and outdoor settings.
  • Flexibility to work outside of Norfolk, including potential overnight stays and unsociable hours.
  • Valid UK Driving License with C1+E entitlement.
