Position Overview
The Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) is an independent regulatory body that oversees the security of civil nuclear materials and sensitive information within the UK. Our mission is to ensure compliance with the Security Assessment Principles, as outlined in the Nuclear Industries Security Regulations.
As part of our commitment to enhancing nuclear security practices both nationally and internationally, we are seeking a dedicated professional to join our team as a Cyber Security and Information Assurance Inspector. This role is integral to our strategy of modernizing regulatory processes through the adoption of advanced digital technologies.
Key Responsibilities
The Cyber Security and Information Assurance Inspector will be responsible for:
- Evaluating the cyber security measures implemented by duty holders to ensure effective risk management.
- Conducting regulatory inspections to verify the implementation of technical controls that safeguard information technology and sensitive nuclear data.
- Inspecting facilities within the nuclear supply chain to assess the management of information security risks.
- Contributing to the formulation of regulatory policies and promoting best practices in the field of nuclear security.
- Collaborating with other regulatory bodies and government agencies to coordinate responses to significant cyber security incidents.
- Representing ONR at various security-related events and meetings, enhancing our engagement with international organizations and industry stakeholders.

Location and Travel Requirements
This position can be based at any of ONR's office locations. The role involves some travel across the UK and occasionally abroad, with a flexible working policy that includes hybrid working arrangements.
Security Clearance
Successful candidates must obtain and maintain National Security Vetting clearance at SC level.
Qualifications and Experience
We expect candidates to possess:
- A relevant qualification in Cyber Security or Information Security.
- Professional membership of a recognized body in the field.
- Demonstrable experience in cyber security and information assurance.
