Support Assistant for Children Affected by Trauma
Are you dedicated and motivated to improve the lives and prospects of children who have experienced trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACE)?
If you possess a background in assisting students with Social Emotional Mental Health needs and feel at ease working with Looked After Children (LAC) and individuals within the care system, this position may be suitable for you.
In this role at an institution dedicated to Looked After Children who have faced childhood trauma or ACE, your primary duty will be to provide classroom assistance.
- Facilitating the children's growth in an educational setting
- Employing a therapeutic approach to behavior management and teaching methodologies
- The institution serves children from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 4, offering a well-rounded curriculum
- Supporting the children in a pastoral role is essential - aiding them in connecting with their education while ensuring emotional well-being and mental health
Your Qualifications...
- A Qualified Teaching Assistant or Residential Support Worker with experience in working with young individuals facing SEMH, autism, ADHD, or similar challenges
- Proficient in managing students with difficult behaviors and those who have experienced trauma
- Adept at maintaining student engagement and focus through excellent communication skills
- Encouraging positivity, independence, and fostering constructive relationships
