Position Overview

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist at Activ will report to the Senior Property Officer and will be tasked with attending to and scheduling daily visits for general and urgent maintenance duties across all Activ facilities.

This role is situated in a collaborative team environment and is offered on a contract basis to cover extended leave.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Conducting routine and scheduled maintenance tasks, including but not limited to painting, carpentry, plumbing, and irrigation;
  • Responding promptly to emergency maintenance requests;
  • Collaborating with the Property Manager to prioritize maintenance tasks using our maintenance management software;
  • Providing feedback on process improvements;
  • Overseeing external contractors and ensuring quality of work;
  • Reporting any maintenance issues to the Manager;
  • Keeping track of receipts and assisting with financial reconciliation;
  • Maintaining tools and equipment in optimal condition;
  • Assisting in the procurement, repair, and disposal of materials in line with audit standards.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • A minimum of five years' experience in the building maintenance sector, particularly in plumbing, irrigation, and carpentry, or management of a maintenance service;
  • Proven experience in executing scheduled maintenance tasks and adhering to a maintenance schedule;
  • Strong skills in using both power and hand tools for maintenance work;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a keen attention to detail;
  • Basic computer proficiency, including word processing and data entry;
  • Well-developed organizational and time management abilities, with a capacity to prioritize tasks effectively;
  • A valid 'C' Class driver's license.
