About the Role

Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled Anaesthetic Practitioner to join our cardiothoracic suite team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and support during anaesthesia procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide pre-surgery assistance to patients, including preparation of specialized equipment and drugs, ensuring their safety and comfort during anaesthesia.
  • Support surgical procedures by facilitating communication between teams and ensuring safe patient transfer post-surgery.
  • Effectively communicate with patients, colleagues, and caregivers, adapting communication methods to individual needs.
  • Provide feedback, and maintain accurate records.
  • Adhere to regulations and procedures, prioritise and organise workload efficiently, and continuously update knowledge and skills.
  • Stay updated with research findings, contribute to quality assurance programs, reflect on clinical practice, and adapt to new developments.
  • Involve colleagues in planning and organising work, provide clear instructions and support, and address poor performance effectively.

Person Specification

  • ODP qualification or;
  • Qualified nurse with a recognised anaesthetic course
  • Practice assessor qualification (desirable)
  • Ability to treat all patient/employee information confidentially
  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate information verbally which may be sensitive/difficult
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to work flexibly
  • Evidence of working within a similar environment (desirable)
