Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Orthoptist to join our dynamic department at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be part of a friendly and busy team of 11 orthoptists, working in a variety of clinics and providing high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake general orthoptic work, including assessments and treatments for patients with ocular motility disorders.
  • Work in specialised paediatric and adult ocular motility clinics, providing expert care to patients with complex eye movement conditions.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of orthoptic services, ensuring high standards of patient care and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients, including multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions.
  • Participate in the supervision and training of undergraduate orthoptic students on clinical placement, contributing to the development of the next generation of orthoptists.
Requirements
  • Hold a degree or diploma in Orthoptics and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Have previous clinical experience in orthoptics, with a strong understanding of ocular motility disorders and their management.
  • Be a highly motivated and flexible team player, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Hold a current driving license and have access to a car, as regular travel between clinics and sites may be required.
  • Be eligible to work in the UK, with the ability to obtain a Skilled Worker Visa if required.
