About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Carer Support Specialist to join our team at Greater Manchester Mental Health. As a key member of our Early Intervention in Psychosis Team/Community Mental Health Team, you will play a vital role in supporting carers, families, and significant others to optimize their mental health and resilience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide practical and emotional support to allocated carers, following individual assessments and needs identification.
  • Support the completion of carer's assessments and promote social inclusion through community-based activities.
  • Work collaboratively with care coordinators and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for carers.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with carers, service users, and external agencies to ensure seamless support.
  • Contribute to the development of care plans and ensure effective implementation.
Requirements
  • Recognized competency-based level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care (NVQ/QCF level 3, Level 3 Apprenticeship) or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Experience of working with carers of people with enduring mental health problems, either paid or voluntary.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, including carers, service users, and professionals.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with carer distress.
  • IT literate, including record keeping.
